HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team locked
itself into the Great Lakes Conference Tournament on Saturday
with an 8-1 victory over Missouri-St. Louis.
Patricia Brinck
was the only NKU player to suffer defeat in the match, falling
to
Stephanie Thompson, 7-5, 7-5, in the No. 1 singles
flight. Meanwhile, Kristen Sunday, Michelle Schirmann and Emily
Okerson each took straight-set victories against their Triton
competition.
With the NKU
win (12-3, 7-1 GLVC) and losses by Quincy and Indianapolis, the
Norse can finish no lower than sixth in
the conference, with
the top eight teams going to the GLVC Tournament in Indianapolis,
Ind.
Northern Kentucky
travels to face Indianapolis in GLVC play on Tuesday.
