SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Northern Kentucky University men’s
tennis team met an abrupt end to its bid for a Great Lakes Valley
Conference championship, falling to Missouri-St. Louis in the
quarterfinals, 5-0, on Friday.
Felipe Rosetti
and Fritz Dlabik came close to taking a point, taking their doubles
match to a 7-4 tie-break before falling to UMSL’s Francis
Lam and Boris Simic, 9-8. Only two singles victories were needed
for the Rivermen to take the match.
Jason Kramer, Kurt Collins and Josh Fudala were each up one set
on their prospective singles opponents before the match went final.
The loss drops
the Norse to 8-10 on the season. Fudala continues to lead NKU
with an 11-3 singles record on the season as the No. 6 player.
Northern Kentucky
must now wait to learn its post-season fate, with NCAA regional
selections scheduled for April 25 at noon. Selections will be
released at ncaasports.com.
