WILDER, Ky.
- Alex Allison scored a goal and assisted two others Tuesday as
Northern Kentucky University rolled to a 5-1 victory over Bellarmine
at the Town & Country Sports Complex.
Tony Capurro
added two assists for NKU, which improved to 7-2-1 overall, 4-2-1
in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse built a 2-0 halftime
lead behind goals from Allison and Chad Cook, and NKU poured in
three second-half goals.
Andy Bacon,
Tab Bere and Jim Delaney also added goals for NKU, which finished
with a 13-6 edge in shot attempts. Bellarmine dropped to 5-5 overall,
3-4 in the GLVC.
NKU, which has
won three straight games, hits the road for GLVC games at Wisconsin-Parkside
(Friday) and Lewis (Sunday) this weekend. Wisconsin-Parkside is
ranked 24th nationally in the Division II poll, and Lewis is 15th.
A year ago in
the opening round of the GLVC Tournament, sixth-seeded NKU stunned
third-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside, 2-1, at Kenosha, Wis. The Norse
took advantage of an own goal in the second half to beat the Rangers
in that game.
