-----Tony Ray is No. 3 in the GLVC in assists

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University will play host to Ashland in a non-conference soccer doubleheader Friday in Wilder, Ky., beginning with the women’s game at 5 p.m.

The NKU women are 6-2 and have won three straight games. Ashland, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, is 5-2-1 overall.

NKU junior forward Jayme Light leads the team in scoring with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Light netted the winning goal last Friday during a 1-0 victory over Missouri-Rolla.

Sophomore goalie Kelly Bare has recorded two straight shutouts for the Norse, who posted a 2-1 win in overtime against Ashland last season.

The NKU men play Ashland at 7 p.m. Friday. The Norse are 5-2-1 overall, while Ashland enters the game at 2-5-1.

On Sunday, NKU posted a 1-0 win over Missouri-St. Louis. The Norse limited the Rivermen to one shot in the first half and finished with a 20-6 advantage in that category.

NKU junior goalie Andy Ortman registered the shutout and finished with three saves, all coming in the second half. It was the third shutout of the season for Ortman, a graduate of Roger Bacon High School.

Sophomore Tony Ray ranks No. 3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with five assists.
