-----NKU’s Tony Capurro

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University's Tony Capurro has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II All-America second team.

Capurro, a junior midfielder from Moeller High School in Cincinnati, scored five goals and added four assists for 14 points this season. He also scored on 23.8 percent of his shots as NKU captured the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region championship for the first time in history.

Capurro played a key role throughout the season, linking the defense and the offense, and he was a vocal leader on the field. He is the first All-American for the NKU men's soccer program since 1996, when J.T. Roberts also earned the honor from the NSCAA.

NKU finished with a 16-3-3 record this fall. The 16 victories tied the school record, and this marked the first time in history the program earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held Jan. 13 as part of the 2007 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
