HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University will begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play in soccer Friday by hosting a doubleheader against Indianapolis at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.

The NKU men meet Indianapolis at 5 p.m., followed by the women’s game at 7:30 p.m. The Norse will also play host to Saint Joseph’s in a GLVC doubleheader Sunday, beginning with the men’s game at noon. The women play at 2:30 p.m.

Both NKU teams are 2-0 going into Friday. The NKU men won twice during the John Toebben Classic last weekend, sweeping past Salem International and West Virginia Wesleyan by identical 4-0 scores.

The NKU women began the season on the road in West Virginia last week, and the Norse defeated Concord (1-0) and Davis & Elkins (3-0). NKU is ranked 11th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

The Indianapolis men are 3-0 after knocking off Upper Iowa, 2-1, Wednesday. The Greyhound women are also 3-0 following a 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST INDY: A year ago, the NKU men dropped a 2-1 decision at Indianapolis. In the women’s game last season, NKU posted a 2-1 win over the Greyhounds.

TOUGH DEFENSE: Norse men’s goalie Andy Ortman has posted a pair of shutouts in his first two games. NKU women’s goalie Jenna Kramer has not allowed a goal in two games this season. Ortman is a junior and a transfer from Cincinnati State, while Kramer is a freshman from Seton High School in Cincinnati.
