HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team added some offense to a great defensive unit with the signing of Steven Beattie to a national letter of intent for the 2007 season.

Beattie, a 2006 graduate of Colaste Ide College in Dublin, Ireland, comes to NKU after spending five years with Skerries Town FC. Beattie was a team captain all five years with the squad and amassed 50 goals during his career.

"Steven Beattie is a very offensive-minded player who has the capability to play a variety of positions," said GLVC and Great Lakes Region coach of the year John Basalyga. "His high school and club experience in Dublin, Ireland, will be a valuable addition to this year's team. We are always looking for skillful, offensive-minded players and Steven will fill that role."

Beattie helped drive Skerries Town to four Dublin District League titles and three Leinster Football League championships.

Beattie is the third player signed by Basalyga to the 2007 recruiting class.
