---Vincent Humphrey averages 6.8 ppg

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University steps out of Great Lakes Valley Conference play Tuesday night to meet Tiffin (Ohio) at 7 p.m. in Regents Hall.

The first 1,000 fans entering Regents Hall Tuesday night will receive free bobblehead dolls of Northern Kentucky University mascot Victor E. Viking, sponsored by Pepsi.

NKU is 4-2 after knocking off No. 21 Southern Illinois at Edwardsville, 81-76, Saturday afternoon in Regents Hall. Steven Wright netted a game-high 29 points to lead NKU.

Vincent Humphrey added 17 points in a reserve role for NKU, which finished with a 45-7 advantage in points off the bench. SIUE rallied in the second half and took a 57-56 lead, but Wright scored four points and Humphrey drained a long 3-pointer to give NKU a 63-59 advantage.

Wright later came up with a steal and finished the play with a breakaway dunk to give NKU a 69-64 lead. The senior guard made four free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the victory for NKU.

For the game, Wright was 13-for-15 at the free-throw line. The 6-foot-3 leaper also added a couple of eye-popping blocks and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

WRIGHT ON: Wright leads NKU in both scoring (17.3 points per game) and rebounding (5.2 rpg). The Bowling Green State transfer is shooting 56.3 percent from the field and is tied for the team lead in blocks with three.

OVER THE HUMP: Humphrey ranks No. 2 in the GLVC in 3-point shooting at 60 percent. The 6-4 junior forward is 9-for-15 from long range this season and averages 6.8 ppg.

ABOUT TIFFIN: The Dragons are 0-6 entering Tuesday’s game. Tiffin is led in scoring by Hernandez Skiver’s 13.3 ppg. The Dragons allow an average of 82 points per game and score just 55.3 ppg.

NKU owns a 1-0 lead in the all-time series with Tiffin. The two teams have not met since Nov. 20, 1987, when NKU posted a 94-85 win over the Dragons in Regents Hall.

FINAL EXAMS NEXT, THEN POWERFUL FINDLAY: After the Tiffin game, NKU will prepare for exams and next be in action Dec. 19 with a road contest at nationally ranked Findlay. The Oilers are the preseason favorites to win the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division.
