NKU MEN ADD TALENTED DIVISION I TRANSFER
Valparaiso transfer Humphrey to play basketball for Norse men this season

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Dave Bezold announced Monday that the Norse have added Vaplaraiso University transfer Vincent Humphrey to the roster for the 2005-06 season.

Humphrey, a 6-foot-4 guard/forward, played at Valparaiso last season and averaged 2.6 points per game for the Crusaders. He scored 10 points against NCAA Division I national runner-up Illinois on Dec. 19, and he also added 10 points against Missouri-Kansas City later in the season.

Humphrey saw action in 22 games at Valparaiso as a freshman and averaged 1.8 rebounds per contest. He also made 73.1 percent of his free throws.

A 2004 graduate of Fenwick High School in Chicago, Ill., Humphrey was selected as the Chicago Catholic League Player of the Year in 2003-04. A second team all-state selection as a junior and senior, Humphrey was a three-time first team All-Catholic League player.

In his senior year, Humphrey led Fenwick to a 21-7 record and the Catholic League championship. Humphrey averaged 18.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game as a senior.

Fenwick’s second all-time leading scorer (behind current NBA standout Corey Maggette), Humphrey netted 1,584 career points. As a junior, he averaged 21.7 ppg and 4.7 rpg. His best games included a career-high 33 points against Von Steuben, and a 31-point effort against Brother Rice.

Humphrey, who has three years of eligibility remaining, will join an NKU program that posted a 14-15 record last season. The Norse also finished as runner-up in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
