KEYER-SCOTT, LEIMBACH EARN SCHOLARSHIPS
NKU standouts awarded postgraduate scholarships from NCAA

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University women’s golfer Kim Keyer-Scott and Norse softball standout Stephanie Leimbach have each been awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship of $7,500.

The NCAA awarded the $7,500 postgraduate scholarships to 29 men and 29 women who participated in spring sports in all three NCAA divisions. During the 2004-05 academic year, the NCAA awarded a total of 174 postgraduate scholarships to fall, winter, and spring student-athletes.

Keyer-Scott and Leimbach join volleyball player Kristin Koralewski as NKU student-athletes to receive postgraduate scholarships in 2004-05. Koralewski was a recipient for fall sports.

Keyer-Scott, a native of Cincinnati, earned All-America honors four times in her NKU career. At the 2003 NCAA Division II national championships, Keyer-Scott took fifth-place honors individually - the best finish in the history of NKU women’s golf.

Leimbach, a native of Hilliard, Ohio, finished her career as the NKU softball program’s all-time leader in hits (258) and runs scored (151). She led the Norse to a 55-2 record as a senior and was named second team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

To qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.200 (on a 4.000 scale) or its equivalent and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated. The student-athlete must have behaved, both on and off the field, in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics.

The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
