NKU
overcame an early 2-0 deficit to post a 10-4 win in Game 2 of
a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin –Parkside on Saturday
at Champion Window Field.
The Norse took
Game 1, 7-0.
NKU trailed
4-2 in the fourth inning of Game 2 before rallying for three
runs.
Kevin Dusold
opened the inning with a single through the middle and Evan McDole
followed with a walk. Aaron Mentz put
down
a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners
and Dusold scored when Jack Ambrose grounded out to second. Jeff Bohlen
doubled to left-center to drive in McDole with the tying run
and Pat Muth’s
double to left field plated Bohlen with the go-ahead run.
NKU added two
in the fifth and three more in the sixth to cruise to the sweep.
Kevin
Jordan (2-0) got the win in four innings of relief.
In Game 1, the fourth inning was also the big frame as the
Norse opened up a 1-0 game with a four-run inning. Dusold
opened the inning with a homer
to left-center.
Bohlen singled through the right side, stole second, and scored on
Larry Pempek’s
double to left-center. Mentz then capped the inning with a two-run
home run to left field.
The Norse added
two more in the sixth and Dave Middendorf hurled a
shutout to win his fifth game of the season against three defeats.
Middendorf
scattered four hits, walked none and struck out five in nine innings.
The
Norse improved to 27-19, 17-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Parkside fell to 3-33, 0-25.
