FLORENCE,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team had another
stunning offensive display, pounding out 19 hits en route to
an 18-1 victory over the University of Cincinnati-Clermont on
Tuesday.
The Norse (13-13)
scored early and often, plating four runs in the first, three
in the third and seven in the fourth
to cruise
to a .500 record on the season.
Every NKU starter
collected at least one hit and scored at least one run. Pat Williams
led the
Norse with a 3-for-4 performance
with three RBIs, while Brian DeCarlo, Aaron Mentz, Jon Back,
Pat Muth and Brett Hoffman each had two-hit games. Ian Durbin
was also
2-for-2 at the plate.
Kevin Quick
(1-2) pitched six innings, scattering four hits and striking
out three to take his first
win of the season.
Cody
Besselman struck out the side in the seventh to finish the
job.
The Norse head
to the state capital tomorrow to face Kentucky State in a non-conference
doubleheader. First pitch
is scheduled
for
noon.
