13 of its past 14 games |
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team is ranked 30th
nationally in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s
NCAA Division II poll.
NKU is 18-9-1
overall, 16-5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse
gained sole possession of first place in the GLVC Tuesday after
sweeping a doubleheader at Southern Indiana.
NKU jumped
into the national poll at No. 24 earlier this season after posting
wins against Grand Valley State and Wisconsin-Parkside in February.
The Norse dropped out of the rankings early in March with a 5-8-1
record, but NKU has since won 13 of its last 14 games to move back
into the national poll.
Other North
Central Region teams in the national poll are Ashland (10th), Grand
Valley State (16th) and Quincy (27th). Grand Valley State is seeking
its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II World Series
this season, and NKU will meet the Lakers in another doubleheader
April 15 at Allendale, Mich.
NKU begins
a four-game series against Rockhurst at noon Saturday at Kansas
City, Mo. The teams will conclude that series Sunday with a noon
doubleheader.
