HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University
men’s golf team has signed four players to National Letters
of Intent for the 2008-09 season. Sean Burke, Jeremy Martin, Matthew
Poat and Nick Jones will join the Norse this fall.
Burke is a
2008 graduate of Conner High School in Hebron, Ky. Burke took
the medal in the
2007 Cougar Classic and represented the Cougars
at the KHSAA state tournament, turning in an 18th place finish.
Burke was named Conner’s Man of the Year in 2007.
Martin is
a 2008 graduate of Grant County High School in Dry Ridge, Ky.
Martin qualified for the KHSAA state championships in each
of his four seasons, and posted a 72 to win the individual medal
in the Region 9 tournament in 2007 while the Braves finished
as the runners up in the region.
Poat is a 2008
graduate of Heath High School in Paducah, Ky. Poat maintained
a 72 scoring average
and helped the Pirates to
a seventh-place
finish at the 2007 KHSAA state tournament. Poat also lettered
in basketball and baseball at Heath.
Jones is a
2008 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School in Paducah, Ky.
Jones was a four-year letterwinner for the Tornados, and captained
the squad for his junior and senior years. Jones shot a 75.6
average during his senior season, including six top-ten
finishes and a share of ninth place in the Region 1 tournament.
