NOBLESVILLE,
Ind. – The Northern Kentucky University men’s golf
team finished the two-day, 19-team Great Lakes Regional #3 at
the Purgatory Golf Course in fifth place with a 22-over par.
The Norse (294-304—598) finished twenty strokes behind
event winner Grand Valley State (282-296—578).
Individually
for NKU, Jim Akerstrom tied a career low by finishing the par-144
event with a 3-over par score. Akerstrom (71-76—147)
finished tied for sixth while GVSU’s Josh Orler (67-74—141)
defeated Wayne State’s Joe Juszczyk (71-70—141) in
a playoff for the individual crown.
Danny Lewis
finished the 95-golfer event tied for eighth place with a 4-over
par 148 (76-72) while
Eric Fuldner, Carl Hays,
and Tyler Adkins rounded out the Norse results.
Fuldner shot
a 7-over par 151 (72-79) to tie for 31st place, Hays finished
in a tie for 43rd with a 9-over par 153 (76-77),
and Adkins’s
10-over par 154 (75-79) was good enough for a tie in 50th
position.
The Norse will
be back in action on May 5-7 as they try to qualify for the national
tournament by taking part
in the
NCAA Great
Lakes/Central Super Regional at Red Hawk Run Golf Course
