PERRY PARK,
Ky. – Another year has passes and but it means the same
thing for the Northern Kentucky University women’s golf
team, another strong performance at the NKU Spring Invitational.
Alicia Lawrence led the way for the Norse with a brilliant performance
at the Perry Park Golf Course. Lawrence, a senior from Williamstown,
Ky., shot 76 in both days’ action good enough for a third-place
tie individually out of 131 golfers.
Other top performers for the Norse included Sofie Rasmussen (83-76—159),
Lyndsey Bevill (79-81—160), Charity Evans (85-75—160),
and Alicia Stauffacher (85-81—166).
As a team, NKU finished the 21-team Invitational in fifth place.
The Norse were able to improve on a 323 first-round performance
by shooting 308 in the second round despite the less-than stellar
conditions.
Grand Valley State (313-308—621) took top team honors while
Indianapolis’s Kristi Piepenbrink (72-74—146) took
the top individual award.
NKU will be back in action on April 20-21 and they travel to
Prairie Bluff Golf Course in Lockport, Ill. to take part in the
Lewis Aviator Classic.
