BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – Northern Kentucky University women’s
golfers Bianca Hutton and Alicia Lawrence wrapped up their seasons
as they competed in the NCAA II East Regional championship at Katke
Golf Course.
Lawrence, an All-Great
Lakes Valley Conference selection, finished the three-day
tournament with a +14 (75-79-76—230) to finish tied in ninth place on the
par-72 event. Lawrence’s best round opened the competition as she recorded
birdies on three consecutive holes on the course’s front nine to finish
+3 after day one. Hutton, the GLVC Player of the Year, shot a +20 (79-78-79—236),
placing 19th in the field.
Ferris State and Drury
finished in the top two and advanced to the NCAA National Championship
tournament in Pensacola, Fla. Individually,
Tracey Puckering of
Grand Valley State (74-73-74—221, +5) and Simone DeSouza of California
(Pa.) (78-74-75—227, +11) also moved on to the national finals. Drury’s
Shannon Bost took the medal in the regional with a +2 (73-71-74—218).
