INDIANAPOLIS
- The Northern Kentucky University men's golf team will seek its
third Great Lakes Region title in four years after being selected
as the top seed for the NCAA Central/Great Lakes Super
Regional. The tournament is scheduled for May 7-9 at Twin Hills
Golf and Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
The Great Lakes
Valley Conference champion Norse join Bellarmine, Indianapolis,
Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, Wayne State, Ferris State
and Findlay as the Great Lakes Region representatives. The top team
from each region will advance to the NCAA Division II national championships
May 22-25 in Allendale, Mich., along with the top individual from
each super regional not with a team.
The Norse are
on a roll, having secured wins in two of their last three events,
including the Division I heavy University of Cincinnati Invitational.
NKU is coming off a second-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional
Invitational.
Last season,
the Norse fell two strokes short of earning a trip to the NCAA Division
II national championships as they were edged out by Saginaw Valley
State at Prairie Bluff Golf Course in Lockport, Ill.
