NKU MAKES IMPRESSION IN FLORIDA - Oct. 8, 2005
Norse men place fourth at Walt Disney Classic; NKU women take 12th place

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s cross country team posted a fourth-place finish at the Walt Disney Classic on Saturday with a score of 103.

Keith Knapp took 12th place in the eight-kilometer event with a time of 26:15 for NKU, which is ranked eighth in the latest Division II Great Lakes Region poll. Teammate Greaham Niemer was 19th in a time of 26:32, while Zach Koehler posted a 20th-place finish in 26:33.

Florida won the team title with a score of 34.

In the women’s five-kilometer run, NKU finished 12th out of 33 teams. The Norse’s Julianne Hoekzema continued her impressive season with a 13th-place finish in a time of 18:52.

NKU’s Tracy Carskadon completed the run in 19:30 and finished in 29th place. Florida also won the women’s team championship with a score of 39.

NKU will compete at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Oct. 22 at Rensselaer, Ind.
