NKU PLAYS HOME OPENER SATURDAY

Norse look to extend win streak against Bellarmine

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will play host to Bellarmine University at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Norse’s home opener.

NKU enters its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener with a 7-4 record, and the Norse have won four consecutive matches. NKU was picked as the preseason GLVC favorite by the league coaches.

NKU owns 23 consecutive victories against Bellarmine. The Norse lead the all-time series with the Knights by a 47-8 margin, and NKU has not lost to Bellarmine since the 1992 GLVC Tournament.

A year ago, NKU defeated Bellarmine twice. Both matches were three-game sweeps for the Norse.

KORALEWSKI NAMED ALL-TOURNAMENT FOR THIRD TIME: For the third time this season, NKU’s Kristin Koralewski has been selected to an All-Tournament team. The senior outside hitter was named to the Ashland Volleyball Classic’s All-Tournament squad last week.

She has also been named All-Tournament at both the University of West Florida and the University of Findlay this season.

Koralewski now has 1,088 career kills at NKU, and she is ninth on the Norse’s all-time list in that category. She also needs just 43 digs to become the sixth player in NKU history to record both 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills.

NKU freshman Liz Holmes also was named All-Tournament at Ashland. Holmes later was honored as the GLVC Player of the Week after she recorded 69 kills and finished with a .466 hitting percentage.

LANHAM MOVES UP ASSIST LIST: NKU setter Andrea Lanham enters Saturday’s home opener with 1,161 career assists, which ranks No. 8 in Norse history. Lanham is a sophomore and a graduate of Notre Dame Academy.
