Rangers defeat Norse for first time in history |

KENOSHA, Wis. - Brook Strickland and Lindsey Jones combined for 21 kills and six blocks Friday night as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside defeated Northern Kentucky University, 30-28, 30-26, 30-28, at DeSimone Gymnasium. Noelle Swartz added 10 kills and 14 digs as the Rangers (6-12 overall, 1-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference) defeated NKU for the first time in history. NKU owned an 18-0 record against Wisconsin-Parkside before Fridays upset loss. Wisconsin-Parkside hit .360 as a team, while NKU attacked at a .298 clip. The Norse finished with a 51-38 advantage in digs, but the Rangers won the blocking battle by a 14-4 margin. Kristin Koralewski led NKU (9-7 overall, 2-3 GLVC) with 21 kills and a .568 hitting percentage. Liz Holmes finished with eight kills for the Norse, who have dropped three of their past four GLVC matches. Koralewski now has 1,177 career kills at NKU. She needs just seven kills to pass Peggy Ziegler (1,183) for seventh place on the NKU all-time list. Koralewski also finished with seven digs Friday and has 995 in her career at NKU. Andrea Lanham recorded 42 assists and two service aces for NKU. Tristen Dye had seven kills, while Lynne Fischesser added six kills and a .308 hitting percentage. The Norse will play a 3 p.m. match at Lewis University on Saturday. |
